About Daily Farm

Welcome.

We are so glad you’ve found our farm.

We started Daily Farm in 2022. We want our farm to be known as a local staple for premium farm grown goods - and that we go the extra mile in service to our community and to our earth. We are a husband and wife team committed to our mission of sustainability personally and professionally. Upon starting our farm, we instituted solar power, pond irrigation, and soil health building.

In a world of commodification, we aim to bring a sense of thoughtful intention to every part of our business; from the way we grow to the services we provide. We want it to be evident that what we do is done with love. We thank you for supporting us.

Our Mission

Our mission at Daily Farm is to provide our community with high quality, earth grown goods that were produced sustainably and with environmentally friendly practices.

We are creating a farm that is modern, inspiring, and welcoming to all.

We are focused and motivated to create a farm that is:

  • By definition, sustainability means “avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance.” Our farm is proud to be sustainable in the following ways:

    Electricity - Our farm is proud to be 100% solar powered.

    Water - Because we are located in the wetlands, we are tapping into our own water supply to irrigate our farm. We have installed a pump at our nearly 100,000 gallon pond that will irrigate our farm crops.

    Soil Management - Soil erosion is a massive issue due to tillage and herbicide use (leading to bare land). We are focused on building healthy soils through no-till practices and no use of herbicide.

  • We believe nature is the greatest artist. We want to create a farm that inspires its visitors with different gardens and walkways that explore the farm. We hope to keep a tidy and safe farm that allows you to come and find the farm a place of refuge and quiet.

  • We want you to know that we are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all, that includes a kindness from our farm and event staff, and a zero-tolerance for hate speech or action of any kind from visitors. We accept you for who you are and want you to feel safe at our farm.

The Farmers

Kristen & Michael met in 2010 at 18 years old. At their first home, they planted out their entire backyard in flowers, hops, and vegetables. Formerly known as Efflorescent Flowers, Kristen formed her LLC for a cut flower business in 2019 and grew her name as a local grower and florist. Michael grew vegetables and over 5 varieties of hops. They married in 2020. Michael and Kristen searched for farmland to expand their operations and start their farm - and bought the perfect space in June 2021, and called it Daily Farm. Michael is the lead produce grower, and Kristen is the lead flower grower. When they’re not farming, they enjoy getting dinner at local spots, spending time with friends, and traveling.

History of Daily Farm

Daily Farm land was historically used for dairy production, then became a no-till corn and soybean farm for the last decade at least. It has a dwindled existing orchard on the property that consists of heirloom apple and pear trees that are heavy producing and at least 40 years old.

The farm is set in the New Albany wetlands, off of Highway 111 - between the casino and downtown New Albany. While the wetlands create a somewhat fickle farming environment, it also creates rich, nutritious soil. Wetlands are an important part of our ecosystem and is home to an abundance of wildlife.

Our farm is between the Ohio River and the Minton Nature Preserve hills and forests and siltstone glades which according to the Indiana DNR are rare rock formations worldwide. From our farmland looking northwest, you can get a clear view of the Rockhouse Ridge, a shallow cavern that sits near the top of the mountain above our home.
